What is Affiliate Marketing?
A company has a product or service that they want to sell. They need customers to buy the product or service. That is where Affiliate Programs like ClickBank, CJ Affiliate, and then there are In-house Affiliate Programs from retailers from Amazon, Home Depot to Wal-Mart come in. You can usually find an Affiliate Programs at the bottom of a company's web page. You become the middle man between the company and the customer.
Before you join a program you have to decide what kind of products you want to sell. Different programs sell different types of products and each program can have different retailers. Each Affiliate Program pay on different models. They may pay for Cost Per Sale (CPS), Cost Per Action (CPA), Cost Per Lead (CPL) or even Cost Per Click (CPC). Also each Affiliate Program has different payment methods and different payment thresholds(Minimum Amounts and time frame) before they pay you. Each Affiliate Program also has limitations on how you can display their product or service. Some do not allow the use of emails, some you cannot use certain keywords and others.
Once you sign up for a program, they will give you a unique referral link or Affiliate link that you can promote in PPC, PTC, Traffic Exchanges, Email or on your own Web site or Blog.
